It’s been 15 years since my brother Ben’s tragic murder, and it breaks my heart that despite our endless fight to tackle knife crime, the problem now is as bad as it has ever been.

In the 15 years since Ben was stolen from us, over a thousand more teenagers have lost their lives to knife crime in England and Wales.

Last year, there were 282 murders involving a stabbing in England and Wales — the highest total since 1946. Of those, 99 were under the age of 25 and 13 were under 16.

These numbers are not just statistics — they represent real lives lost, dreams shattered and families whose lives will never ever be the same again.

The Ben Kinsella Trust is dedicated to the mission of ending knife crime. Our work focuses on education and awareness, reaching young people, schools, parents and carers and everyone in the community to educate them about the devastating consequences of knife crime. This is Ben’s legacy, and we will do everything that we can to stop the tragedy of what happened to my family happening to someone else’s.

We've taken significant steps to prevent knife crime. Over 6,000 young people in the last year and over 30,000 in total have learnt from Ben’s story. We’re reaching more young people than ever before. We've also launched a new and ground-breaking youth ambassador programme, empowering young people to become positive role models in their communities. We also launched the country’s first ever knife crime awareness week which reached over 4 million people, and we've introduced innovative programmes that support parents and families in helping their children to stay safe. I am absolutely determined that we will never give up the fight to stop knife crime.

This week, you can play your part in really helping us. During the Big Give Christmas Challenge Campaign, all donations to the Ben Kinsella Trust will be doubled. This means that your generous contribution will have twice the impact in our mission against knife crime. We are trying to raise £50,000 to keep up our work - it seems such a massive figure but we are already so close, and every penny helps us to expand our work and keep more children and young people safe.

Please give what you can. Every donation will be doubled, and no matter the size, can make a difference.

Together, we can help end knife crime and create a safer future for our young people.
