Tackling knife crime together

The Ben Kinsella Trust invites members of the community to come together to learn about how we can tackle serious youth violence, knife crime, and the important supportive role that communities have in preventing young people being criminally exploited.

Join one of our workshops to learn more about these important topics.

Our knife crime training sessions are intended for members of the community, community leaders, faith leaders, local businesses, parents & carers and others who wish to tackle serious youth violence.

The workshops are hosted by The Ben Kinsella Trust.

Knife Crime Awareness Training

1 hour - This workshop covers the following topics:

  • Fear as a driver of knife crime

  • The cycle of trauma and knife crime

  • The impact of knife crime on individuals, families and communities

  • Understanding trauma and stress responses and how they affect communication and

  • Positive approaches to supporting young people

  • Reducing fear and building resilience

  • Communicating effectively with young people

  • Resources and further support

Helping Young People Stay Safe Training

2 hours - This workshop covers the following topics:

  • Exploring the drivers of knife crime and serious youth violence

  • Vulnerabilities and risk factors for young people and families

  • Recognising the current landscape for young people; social media, exploitation, violence and gangs

  • Understanding how ‘issues’ with peers can escalate and how we can help young people manage them

  • Having meaningful conversations about difficult topics

  • Empowering young people and communities to prevent harms

  • Further support and resources available
