YouthAmbassadorsProgramme

See what our current Youth Ambassadors have been up to...

22 young people across the Barking & Dagenham and Islington borough have been taking part in The Ben Kinsella Trust’s Youth Ambassador Programme, in order to empower them to become youth violence prevention champions within their borough and beyond.

We had special visits from Lefevre Media who helped the young people with media training and how to speak infront of a camera confidently and St John Ambulance who lead a First Responders training session.

We have welcomed young people to meet weekly during term times from September - March, where they received facilitated sessions, ultimately leading to creating and delivering their own anti-knife crime campaign. The role of this programme is to give a voice to young people within the issue of knife crime and to help them to take steps to reduce serious youth violence.

The programme also upskills the young people with session such as building their knife crime knowledge, presentation skills, media training and campaign work.

The Youth Ambassador Project gives the opportunity for young people to support the country’s leading anti-knife crime charity, gaining valuable experience, and can directly impact the work of The Ben Kinsella Trust and the thousands of young people we work with each year.

Young Responders is an incredibly valuable addition to the project, as young people are the most affected by serious youth violence. Therefore, this training session will develop the Ambassadors’ understanding of knife crime further, as well as being equipped with lifesaving training to support them in their day to day life.
